Hello Wealth Builders!

Working from home has been a key theme on WBE lately - after all, there are many people who would love to do it!
Today I’d like to look at another aspect of it: developing work from home ideas.

Hello Wealth Builders!

Working from home has been a key theme on WBE lately - after all, there are many people who would love to do it!

Today I’d like to look at another aspect of it: developing work from home ideas.

I hear many statements like the following: “I’d love to work from home, but I don’t know what to do or how to start.”

Well, these are legitimate concerns - but don’t let them stop you! You simply need to expand your perspective beyond the “job mentality.” In other words, get creative.

First of all, be open to starting your own business rather than working for someone else. Most people who work from home run their own businesses, and this is something you should look at seriously if you want to work from home too.

It’s not as risky as you might think!

A lot of people are afraid to even think of running their own business; they are attached to the perceived “security” of a job. But in reality a home-based business is just as secure as most jobs, and often more so.

Being an entrepreneur can be a lot more lucrative as well - especially when you base your business on the Internet, which gives you access to a global market, i.e. millions - even billions - of potential customers, and can have very low overhead/high profit margins as well!

In other words, you can launch and run an online business with a fraction of the money required to start a traditional business. You don’t even have to stock or ship any products - you can make lots of money as an affiliate selling other people’s products!

And the risk factor is further reduced because when you start a work from home business, you can do it in your spare time and keep your day job. Then, as your business grows and becomes more profitable, you can leave your day job and focus on the business full-time.

You Still Need to Take Action!

Do you have to put in time and effort? Absolutely. But the rewards are well worth it. When you use powerful, proven systems and apply them consistently, you can achieve financial success and be working from home full-time within a year - often less!

As with financial outlay, the time and effort spent building an online business is generally less than a traditional business - often a lot less… but you do need to be consistent with it! And of course, the more you put into it, the more quickly it will grow.

However, if your business is based on things you’re interested in and passionate about (as it should be), you will find it easy to put in the effort - it won’t seem like “work” at all!

Start by generating work from home ideas.

To develop work from home ideas, start by listing your interests and enter the relevant keywords into a good search engine. You will be presented with a host of work from home websites, resources, advertisements and opportunities.

From there, pick the ones that sound most appealing and check out their websites. Feel free to visit sites on others’ reviews, recommendations and links as well.

Site Build It!

I want to take a moment to mention Site Build It! here. It’s an all-in-one e-commerce system that shows you how to build a top-ranking website that sells.

SBI! is designed specifically for the small business person, yet it’s an incredibly powerful system. Over 60% of all SBI! sites rank in the top 3% of all websites on the Internet. 35% are in the top 1%! In other words, many SBI! sites outrank the sites of many large companies and corporations, and allow their owners to make lucrative - often very lucrative - incomes working from home.

I personally use SBI! for my own self-empowerment website, Creating-Life-Abundance.com, and it’s an outstanding system! Not only does SBI! give you all the tools you need to create a fantastic e-commerce website including a great site builder, brainstorming and keyword tools and much, much more, it also shows you how to use them with one of the best training/support programs I’ve ever seen.

You also get analysis and tracking tools to optimize your site for the best traffic numbers, automatic updates sent to multiple search engines (including all the major engines - Google, Yahoo, MSN and more) every time you add more to your site, and much more. You get domain registration, full web hosting, email and more too!

At first glance, Site Build It! may not look like the cheapest website building/hosting package out there. However, it is by far the best value. It’s the most comprehensive, powerful, legitimate and easiest to use system to create your business from the ground up. When you add up everything you get with SBI!, nothing else compares. (And it still costs less than $1.00 per day!)

Everything you need to create, build, maintain, optimize and monetize your own profitable online business with a content-rich, high-quality, high-traffic, highly profitable website, is provided for you. If you use Site Build It! as directed you will succeed! It’s that simple.

The Next Steps

Once you find a work from home system(s) that appeals to you, it’s up to you to invest your time and money. You don’t need to spend a massive amount of money to start, and in fact you shouldn’t. Start relatively small and put the system you purchase into action. And do be willing to put in the time. Any system that claims you can make money without doing anything, isn’t even worth considering!

Create your business and get it up and running… and then think about purchasing additional tools and resources to help you grow your business and profits, or start additional businesses.

Hint: You can get a lot for free too!

There is a lot of free information available online, much of it excellent. You may have to enter your email address to get to the info, but that just puts you on an opt-in list that you can unsubscribe from at any time. Many free reports contain great tips that are well worth adding to your knowledge base!

Use these free resources to enhance your knowledge and improve your business, its services and/or products, and your profits.

Keep a backup plan, but only as a last resort.

It’s still a good idea to have a backup plan and a little bit of extra income, “just in case”. As with making any dream come true, the road to self employed success is sometimes a bit rocky, at least in the beginning. But use the right systems, take consistent action and focus on giving others what they want, and you will be successful!

Bottom line: you can do it!!

There are many ways to take your work from home ideas and create successful businesses from them. Again, you will have to put in some time and effort - but the rewards are well worth it. And if working from home is your goal, then starting an Internet business is the way to go.

Hello Wealth Builders!

I trust you’re having a fantastic time as you learn more about wealth building, apply it and create greater wealth in your life!

Today I want to talk about legitimate work from home opportunities. We’ve started a new series of pages on the subject (CLICK HERE for the first one), and we’ll also be making more posts here in WBE’s main section!

So let’s get started!

Sometimes it seems like there are so many scams and piles of worthless information out there, that truly worthwhile work from home ideas and systems must not exist at all!

Well I’m here to say, happily they do exist - you just need to know where to look!

The Internet Is Where It’s At.

If you want to work from home, there’s no better place to start than the Internet. Even if your ultimate goal is to run a traditional, offline “bricks-and-mortar” business from home, an online business can be a great way to get started.

The low startup costs and flexible time requirements of an online business allow you to build it in your spare time. With the right knowledge, system and tools you can literally build an online business with nothing more than a computer, Internet connection and consistent action (that’s important)!

Then, as your business becomes more profitable you might choose to use the money to build a bricks-and-mortar business. Or you might decide to focus more on your online business when you see how fun and profitable it is!

Less Time and Lower Startup Costs;
Bigger Market and Higher Profits!

Online businesses take less time and money to set up and maintain, yet they can still produce excellent profits - often much more than traditional businesses. Once it’s up and running, your Internet business never “closes” unless you want it to - it continues to run 24/7, reaching a worldwide market and making sales in the process.

As a result, you wind up making more money with less work. You have the freedom to focus on growth and expansion, rather than just keeping things rolling. You work on your business, rather than in it.

There Are Many Legitimate Work From Home
Opportunities On The Internet!

There are many, many great opportunities online - with more coming available each day - and there is a massive amount of information and training available to show you exactly how to use those opportunities!

Anyone who says making money online is drying up, getting overcrowded or “only available to the big dogs” is dead wrong. The Internet, as massive as it is, is still in its infancy at this point. The playing field has never been more level, and the opportunities are everywhere if you know where to look and what to do!

As long as you use the right systems and tools, you can make a very good online living working just part-time, or an outstanding living (even millions) if you put more time and effort into it.

How to find legitimate opportunities

I won’t mislead you - you’ll need to do some digging to find legitimate work from home opportunities on the Internet.

The best way is to invest in some products that will show you how to make money working from home. These products may require a relatively small initial investment, but I assure you:

The money you spend on these products will be a fraction of what you’d spend starting a traditional business.

By using the information, systems, tips, techniques, tools and resources these products provide you will save money by avoiding costly mistakes, and you’ll make more money with increased profits as well!

That being the case, it’s more than worth it to spend a little money now to make lots of money with a business that succeeds because you build it right!

CLICK HERE to learn about an excellent,
inexpensive work from home package
and start making money online today!

So How Do You Choose Products?

I have personally purchased many products and tools to help me build my businesses. The best ones, logically, come from sources that have the experience to back up what they teach. They’ve created and used the systems themselves, and they have proof that they work.

Look for products from people or companies that have “been there, done that” and have evidence to back up their claims such as proof of income, testimonials, positive reviews from independent sources, etc.

Products, systems and services from these individuals and companies are much more likely to produce the results you’re looking for.

Also, be prepared to see some “crossover” and repeated information between products. In my experience there is a central mass of “core information” - some specific to online businesses, some to all businesses - that’s required knowledge for business success. Most products cover at least some of this same core info; some go into it in depth.

Crossover isn’t a bad thing. Most of the products I’ve purchased (or downloaded for free) also contain unique info, tips, tools or other resources that continue to help me grow and improve my businesses and profits - and that makes them well worth the purchase price!

Learn to see through the hype!

You really need to look at product ads and promotions carefully. Many ads - especially for work at home products - contain very “up-front” or “hypey” sales copy and bright graphics which can make them seem a bit overdone. It’s kind of like the classic “used car salesman” stereotype of a cheesy, fast-talking, badly dressed guy who uses hype and flash to try and sell you a heap of junk.

But that’s not necessarily the case with online marketing systems and products. Some of the most effective systems I use come from products with flashy, hypey web pages and sales letters!

You need learn to look past the hype and see what the product is actually offering. What do you get for your money? Is there any sort of guarantee? Do you get any extras? And what about the individual or company offering the product? What kind of claims do they make? Do they offer testimonials? Do a search of their name(s) online and see if you can find reviews or recommendations of their products.

In short, do your research. There are a lot of good, legitimate work from home opportunities and products available - make sure you pick the ones that feel right for you!

Stay tuned - we’ll have more on this subject soon!

Hello again Wealth Builders!

Here we go with Personal Money Management for Wealth Builders - Part 5:

Get Your Money Working For You, Rather Than You Working For Your Money.

Successful wealth builders know what it takes to build wealth, and it’s not necessarily investment tips from Warren Buffett, a big inheritance or a six- or seven-figure salary. The truth is, there are many “average” people who build great wealth. Some run their own businesses or manage their investments full-time; many still work at full-time jobs. Regardless, they do what they do because they want to, not because they have to do it to survive. They have this freedom because they know how to get their money working for them.

Simply put, successful wealth builders work, save, and then invest their money so they never have to work hard again! Wealthy people see every dollar as a “seed” that can be planted to earn ten more, which can then be replanted to earn a hundred more, then a thousand more, and so on! Many multi-million and even multi-billion dollar fortunes began with just an initial vision and desire, a small investment (often just a few dollars), and steady work and perseverance.

In contrast to successful wealth builders, most people work hard and then spend all of their money as soon as they get it. Or, they lock it away in savings accounts which, while relatively secure, provide very low returns. Either way, the end result is that they wind up working hard until they retire… and then they often don’t have the net worth or retirement income to do what they want anyway!

Successful wealth builders have a different attitude towards money. They know that no matter how they earn it initially, the key to making their money grow is to make it work for them. In other words, instead of spending most or all of their money on consumer goods and activities that do not produce any returns, or low-interest savings and retirement plans that produce very low returns, successful wealth builders put their money into higher-return investments, businesses and other profitable avenues. So an important key to successful wealth building is to:

Be An Investor - Not A Spender Or Saver.

Our current society and culture emphasizes spending based on brash materialism and instant gratification. There are always thousands of new, slick, fashionable consumer products, services and fads being promoted through advertising, the media and popular culture: cell phones, televisions, stereos and other techno-toys; designer fashions and accessories; cars and trucks; fad food and drinks; you name it. Advertisers spend billions to convince us that we need these things, and then they make it easy for us to get them right now by offering credit and easy payment plans. People are often led to believe that having the “latest and greatest” is normal or even necessary for an acceptable lifestyle. As a result, they spend their money as soon as they get it - or even before they get it, in the form of credit.

The truth is, most of these things are wants, not needs. But because we’re convinced that we need them - to keep up with the Joneses, or because our favorite celebrities endorse them, or simply because they look fun or fashionable to have, or whatever - we sign on the dotted line anyway. The end result is that we get some new toys to play with, but we spend all of our money or add to our debt. As a result, we actually put ourselves farther away from true financial freedom… where we could buy anything we want without spending all our money or going into debt!

You Can Have Anything You Want - But You’ll Get It All Sooner If You’re Smart About It!

Let me clarify: there is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying fine things and a luxurious and healthy lifestyle!

However, if you spend all your money on consumer goods, lifestyle items and other non-income producing things now, you actually cut yourself off from a better and more luxurious lifestyle down the road!

Successful wealth builders understand this. This is why you will find that millionaires and billionaires usually pay for every depreciable item they buy in full. They might use credit cards and accounts for convenience’s sake, but they don’t carry balances - they pay off everything in full every month. Now, this isn’t just because they can… you’ll find that successful wealth builders have done this since they first started building their fortunes.

You see, from the beginning they knew that by going without a few luxury items and gadgets, or by driving an older car, they would have more money to invest. They also knew that their investments would multiply… and that as a result, they would eventually be able to buy whatever they wanted.

When you invest, you can create the financial freedom to buy the things you want for cash, without affecting your financial well-being at all. Does successful investing take will-power and discipline? Yes. Does it take time? Yes, although often much less time than you think. But the rewards are well worth it.

Saving Is Better, But Not Best.

Saving your money is better than spending it all on consumer goods and other depreciating items. However, great wealth is rarely created by saving alone… at least not quickly. Yes, saving is a step up from spending on consumer goods: at least your money isn’t being frittered away on non-income-producing items. But money held in savings pays little or no interest; it’s not working for you nearly as hard as it could.

That’s not to say saving is bad. You should always devote a portion of your income to savings; building up a solid nest egg is always a good idea. However, to really build wealth it’s much more effective to put as much money as you can into higher-return avenues: investments.

Become An Investor!

To build the kind of wealth that gives you true independence and financial freedom, you need to become an investor. Putting your money into things that become more valuable over time, such as securities (stocks and bonds), real estate and successful businesses has, historically, been the best way to build wealth. Wise investing always produces good returns in the long run, and if you use the right short-term strategies your investments can grow very quickly too!

It’s extremely important to get educated: learn about the investment world. Familiarize yourself with a variety of different investment vehicles and financial instruments, such as real estate, mortgages, stocks, funds, bonds, currency exchange… anything that interests you. Then, choose one primary area to start with and become an expert at that type of investing. Learn as much as you can and apply it. Later, you can diversify into a broader portfolio.

Spend some money on products that will help you learn about investing, particularly your chosen area(s). In fact, educational materials are investments themselves: investments in you. The more knowledge you have and apply, the more success you will achieve. There are some amazing books, courses and other materials out there that will inspire and motivate you in your quest for personal wealth, and give you the tools to do it!

Get Started Now!

The most important thing is to get started right away! Research various investment avenues, choose one that appeals to you, and learn as much about it as you can. Read books; take courses; consult with those who employ it or are involved with it; learn all the ins and outs.

Next, start with a set amount of your money (principal). This can be a small amount; in fact it should be when you’re first starting out. Invest as much money as you feel comfortable with, but never, ever invest more than you can afford to lose! As you gain more experience and produce higher returns and more consistent results, you can invest greater amounts.

Continue to learn and invest, and your investments will produce greater and greater returns. You want to add those returns to your investment principal and re-invest them. Resist the temptation to spend all of your investment returns! Re-investing helps your fortune to grow more rapidly: as your wealth continues to increase, you can diversify into new investments and create multiple streams of investment income.

Freedom: The Ultimate Goal.

Regardless of where you invest your money, your long-term strategy should be to achieve adequate growth so that, ultimately, you can live on the income your fortune produces and never have to dip into the principal. That kind of financial freedom and security can be within your grasp if you adopt the strategies of those who have achieved wealth by way of wise money management and investment.

By shifting your thinking and behavior to that of a wealth builder, you’ll never again have to trust your fortune to fate. That’s a good thing, because research shows that most millionaires rarely, if ever, buy lottery tickets!

Again, if you focus on investing instead of spending, learn new things, use proven investment vehicles that work for you, employ strategy and discipline, and re-invest your returns consistently, you can achieve financial freedom very quickly - and that’s what wealth building is all about!

Welcome back! Here we go with Part 4c of Personal Money Management for Wealth Builders.

This section continues with Part 4b’s theme: Manage Your Time Effectively. Here are some more tips:

Tip #4: Learn To Delegate

This is an important time management tip - not just for entrepreneurial/business activities, but for home tasks and “busywork” too! Let’s look at the Entrepreneur’s Example:

Entrepreneurs with consistently growing businesses usually have to start outsourcing tasks and/or hiring employees. This happens because a growing business often reaches a point where there is too much work for one person (the founder) to handle.

It also happens because all good entrepreneurs recognize that they have specific strengths, and it would benefit both them and their business to focus on applying those strengths and contract/hire others to perform other tasks. In other words, they delegate.

Successful entrepreneurs - even, and often especially, multi-millionaires and billionaires - recognize this and use it to their advantage. To paraquote many of the most successful and wealthy people in the world, past and present:

“Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you.”

This is absolutely true. When you delegate, you give others the opportunity to shine in their specific areas of talent, and you get more time to apply yours. Those you delegate to get to do what they’re good at, and you get to spend more time doing the things you’re good at. You free yourself to work on your business, rather than getting stuck working in it.

This works in day-to-day life too. You can delegate typical domestic tasks, even numerous errands and other busywork. Consider the following example:

Perhaps you spend two hours per week cleaning your house. But say you paid a cleaner to do it for you - the typical rate for a cleaning service is around $50-$75 for a 3 bedroom/2 bath house, and you can often find self-employed cleaners that will work for less than that.

For another example, you can pay a gardener/landscaper roughly the same amount for a couple of hours’ lawn cutting and garden maintenance. If you enjoy working in your garden, that’s fine - just schedule it as part of your leisure time. But even then, you could have someone cut your lawn, which – depending on the size of your lawn – could give you upwards of 1 extra hour per week. As it is, many of us would prefer to have someone do our basic garden maintenance for us.

For this example, let’s say that you pay someone $60 to spend two hours per week to either clean your house or maintain your yard. With either arrangement, they get to add you to their client list - which benefits their business and increases their income - and you now have 2 extra hours that you can apply to other activities more suited to your talents… such as wealth building. If you like, you can still enjoy “fun” gardening (or even “fun” cleaning if you enjoy it) in your leisure time… but you won’t be spending potentially productive time on it.

Instead you can use those 2 extra hours per week more effectively, and they can easily be worth the $60 cleaning/gardening bill, plus more – often a lot more. For example:

If you’re running an online business, 2 hours is time to write several short articles, blog or forum posts that link back to your money-making blog or website. It’s time to create and upload more content for your money-making blog or website. It’s time to make a short YouTube video with a link to your site. It’s time to perform numerous other social networking activities as well: adding content to your Squidoo lens, HubPage or MySpace for example. All of these activities will send significant traffic back to your site… and if you’ve set things up properly, you will make additional sales and/or affiliate commissions as a result.

If you have a bricks-and-mortar business, you can spend that 2 hours prospecting for clients. You can create ads for your business, either online or in print. You can spend it on customer/client care and follow-up, building relationships and referrals that will bring you increased and repeat business. You can use it to perform management, inspections, paperwork or general maintenance tasks, all of which will help your business run more effectively. Then, as your business grows, you can start outsourcing or hiring for those tasks, leaving you with even more time to network, expand and promote your business.

If you work for someone else, that 2 hours’ cleaning time will be added to your down-time outside of your work hours. You can use it to learn more about areas you’re interested in – like wealth building. You can spend time on self-empowerment and self-improvement. If you don’t mind “taking you work home with you”, you can spend it working on projects, generating ideas, prepping for meetings or anything else that helps you perform your job more effectively. If your goal is to become self-employed, you can use the 2 hours to work on your business.

There are many more things you could do with that 2 hours, and that’s just one example of delegating a simple task (house cleaning). Once you’ve prioritized your tasks using the ABC System (see Tip #2 above), look at all your low-priority tasks and decide which ones you could delegate.

Whether you’re delegating business tasks or “busywork”, don’t be afraid to let others do them. Often we have trouble getting rid of the “if you want something done right, do it yourself” attitude, but once you learn to trust in the abilities and competence of others – and always expect to find competent people – you’ll find that not only will your life get easier, but the people you delegate to will often find ways of doing things even more effectively.

If you want to learn how to delegate and prioritize effectively, I highly recommend these products. Remember: learn as much as you can, surround yourself with people who are smarter than you in areas outside of your particular talents and passions, and focus on applying your own talents and passions. Everyone wins as a result!

Tip #5: Be Sure To Schedule “Me-Time”

You need to leave time for you! This is vital for success in wealth building and life in general.

At work or in your business, schedule some down-time for yourself each day, without interruptions. If that means closing your office door and letting your voicemail take phone messages, then that’s what you need to do. This down-time between work tasks allows you to take a breather and focus more effectively on your “up-time”. Let go of the “I’ve got too much to do” attitude. The truth is that if you take careful stock of your tasks and focus on performing them efficiently, you will create the time for breaks. Believe it and you’ll achieve it.

Outside of work, schedule time to do things that you love, enjoy and find relaxing. Go for a walk, run or hike; paint a picture; play a sport you enjoy; work out; play music; go out for dinner, a movie, dancing, or other activities with friends and partners; meditate or do Yoga, Tai Chi or other spiritual activities; do anything that you find relaxing, beneficial and enjoyable! Sometimes, when we’re caught up in the “do-do-do” rush-around rat-race, we never do anything for ourselves, but leisure time is extremely important, and it helps us become more effective and less stressed.

Tip #6: Un-Clutter Your Life!

This is only semi-related to time management, but it’s a very important part of organizing your life, so it’s worthy of mention here. Clutter, both physical (in the form of junk and rubbish that we hang on to for no good reason) and mental (in the form of old fears, memories, traumas and disempowering beliefs) slows us down massively and prevents us from managing our lives effectively.

One of the best things you can do is eliminate clutter and spend a few minutes each week to keep your life free of it. Clutter holds us back tremendously, often much more than we realize. A disorganized living and working space contributes to, and is also a symptom of, “internal” clutter. Clear your physical space and you help to clear your mental space – which empowers you tremendously. Again, these products contain some great methods for eliminating clutter and empowering yourself as a result. Check them out!

To eliminate mental clutter, focus on any disempowering beliefs, fears or bad memories you have and learn to let go of them. It can help to make a list and then go through it progressively, doing whatever’s needed to let go of each item or change it to something positive. There are many resources to help you with this – too many to list here. I suggest you visit my self-empowerment website, www.Creating-Life-Abundance.com, for lots of great information and resources. I also suggest my e-book, Your Passion Point. This is a must-read e-book that includes a complete system for letting go of things that are holding you back, and creating anything you want!

There are many other great e-books and books available as well. Check out the CLA (Creating Life Abundance) Recommended Books page here.

To eliminate physical clutter, let go of any old items you don’t need. If you’re a pack-rat then work on breaking the habit. Although we often tend to hang on to things because we “think we might need them someday”, most of the time we never use them at all – and they just gather dust and take up space. The truth is, even if you think you might need something someday, you’re much better off getting rid of it. If you do this consistently you will empower yourself tremendously, and if you ever do need what you got rid of, you can always find another – or something to take its place.

So clear your work and living space of clutter: junk mail, old papers, unused items that you’ve been storing, and other accumulated clutter. Eliminate behaviors that lead to clutter, and keep your internal (mental) and external (physical) world free of it. To get a bit philosophical and metaphysical: when you keep your mental and physical world free of clutter, you allow more of what you want – things of true value, wealth and abundance – to manifest in it. And to relate this to time management, the less time you spend dealing with clutter, the more time you have to focus on things that matter!

Now you have some great information to get started with!

The next moves are up to you! As we mentioned, nothing happens until you take action. Whether you choose to get more information on time management, or use the tips we’ve already provided, you need to jump in with both feet and apply it!

Once you do, you’ll be astonished at how much extra time you can create, how much you can reduce stress, and how much more you’ll be able to focus on wealth building and doing things you love and enjoy! Now go for it - we’ll talk again soon!

Hello, and welcome to Part 4b of Personal Money Management for Wealth Builders!

This section continues with Part 4a’s theme: Manage Your Time Effectively. Here are some great tips to get you started:

Tip #1: List All Your Tasks And When You Do Them
The first step in effective time management is to increase your awareness of how you’re actually spending your time. Begin by listing all the things you do in a week, and when you do them. By making a list, you have everything laid out in front of you. It’s easy to see what you’re doing, when you’re doing it, and how you can do it more efficiently.

Start with a particular day of the week – whichever day you generally consider to be the “start” of your week. For most people this will be Sunday or Monday. Draw up your typical hourly schedule for each day, using a table format; you can do this by hand or on your computer, or you can use day timer or desk calendar inserts.

Fill in each day with the tasks and activities you typically perform, from the time you get up to the time you go to sleep. If you’re having trouble filling in your schedule, just think back to the past week and use that as your example. You want to create a clear, thorough list of:

All the tasks and activities that you currently perform in a typical week.

When you perform those tasks and activities, and how much time you spend on them.

Tip #2: Prioritize Your Tasks

After you’ve completed your weekly list, assign a level of priority to each item on it. Prioritizing your responsibilities and engagements is very important. As I mentioned, we often get caught up in doing low-priority “busywork” which distracts us from doing more productive things.

An easy, effective prioritizing method is the “ABC System“. Tasks/activities that are perceived as having the highest priority are assigned an “A“, those with medium priority are “B“, and the lowest priority tasks are labeled “C“.

The ABC Method can incorporate more than three groups if you wish, but it’s not usually necessary. Simply go through your list and assign each item an “A”, “B” or “C” according to priority. Next, rearrange your list so all the “A’s” are together, all “B’s” are together and so on.

Before we move on to Tip #3 and start creating your new schedule, I want to recommend these personal time management products again. They’re a great source of info and will really help you get organized. You’ll find them highly beneficial! Now, on to Tip #3…

Tip #3: Set Up Your Schedule

Once you’ve assigned a level of priority to each task/activity and grouped them accordingly, you can organize them into efficient, “do-able” time blocks that allow you accomplish all activities and concentrate on the tasks that are most important. Obviously there might be some “immovable” time blocks (such as working hours if you’re employed by someone else), but other activities can usually be scheduled more flexibly.

Plan your day so that you complete similar activities in the same block of time. This eliminates excess time in “setting up”’ and orienting yourself to each new task. For example:

At work, schedule one block of time for computer work: e-mails, writing, Internet work, creating presentations and such. Schedule another for phone time: prospecting, networking, follow-up calls and the like. If your work or business involves travel and outside meetings with customers, clients, employees or partners and associates, do your best to schedule several meetings for each trip. This reduces the time you spend traveling and leaves you more time for other tasks.

At home, schedule one block of time for domestic and personal tasks: cooking (many meals can be prepared ahead of time), cleaning, laundry and such. Schedule another block for outside tasks: grocery shopping, haircuts, workouts, health and dental visits, banking, and so on. Again, arrange your schedule so you can accomplish numerous tasks in the same block of time. You’ll often be amazed at how much extra time you create!

Going back to the Entrepreneur’s Example, if you looked at the schedule of a “typical” entrepreneur you’d see that he or she has taken care to arrange tasks, appointments and other activities in a logical, precise order, leaving plenty of time for each. Then - and this is important - she’ll make sure she sticks to her schedule as closely as she can. In other words, she identifies what needs to be done and she does it.

Of course it’s not always possible to stick to a schedule 100% - unforeseen things do crop up sometimes - but if she does alter her schedule she will still focus on priorities, rearranging her schedule to cause as little distraction from them as possible.

Again, I highly recommend that you check out these time management products as an additional resource!

That’s It For Part 4b; More Tips Are Coming In Part 4c!

In Part 4c - the final section of Personal Money Management for Wealth Builders - Part 4, we’ll offer more tips for managing your time effectively.

Time management is so important - just remember this: managing your time well is a huge part of managing your life well. Manage your life well and you can accomplish anything you desire!

Here’s “the first part of Part 4″ of Personal Money Management for Wealth Builders:

Manage Your Time Effectively.

All of Part 4 is about time management, but there’s a lot of info so it’s divided into several sections. This is Part 4a; the other sections follow in separate posts. With that said, let’s get started!

Time Management Basics

Proper time management is a vital aspect of

<place w:st="on">
<placename w:st="on">Wealth</placename>
<placetype w:st="on">Building</placetype></place> in general, but it’s worth mentioning as a specific part of Personal Money Management as well. You see, when you learn to manage your time effectively you increase your discipline and focus, and you start to take charge. This helps you with

<place w:st="on">
<placename w:st="on">Wealth</placename>
<placetype w:st="on">Building</placetype></place>, and in many other aspects of life as well!So many of us spend our days in a constant state of rushing around, trying to cram as much as we can into too little time, and always feeling like we have too much to do. We eat too fast, drive too fast, get impatient, and generally stress ourselves out.As a result, rushing becomes an unpleasant, mindless habit… until it catches up with us in the form of poor health, disease, psychological issues, a car crash or some other negative consequence.Guess what? It’s not necessary! In fact, in order to get out of the Rat Race, the first thing you need to do is stop rat-racing! Many of us start out with great intentions, determined to get out of the rat-race by starting our own business, climbing the ladder in our current workplace, or getting a better job somewhere else. But we place all our focus on “do-do-do”, thinking that we have to work harder and longer and cram more into each day in order to succeed. As a result, we scatter our efforts and waste time and energy rushing back and forth, or we create such a massive and intimidating “to-do” list that we wind up procrastinating and barely do anything. Either way, we reduce our effectiveness and accomplish nothing except increased stress.

Instead, take a tip from successful self-employed people and business owners. Yes, these people sometimes spend a lot of time in their business, especially when they’re just starting out, but those who “do it right” make that time count and leverage their actions to the max. In turn their actions pay off, the business prospers, and as it grows they wind up having more time (and money) to do what they want.

You can apply this type of time management yourself, regardless of whether you’re self-employed or working for someone else. I call it the Entrepreneur’s Example - read on to learn about it…

The Entrepreneur’s Example

Successful entrepreneurs are masters of time management… which means they’re masters of scheduling and discipline. They’re also masters of delegation and leverage.

Effective time management helps entrepreneurs’ businesses - and bank accounts - grow rapidly. Many individuals who start their own businesses fail rather quickly due to not focusing on the tasks that most help their company’s growth and productivity.

This applies to life in general too! If you’re not managing your time effectively and focusing on the tasks that most help your growth and productivity, you’re limiting yourself and creating negative long-term results… in all areas of your life. Read on for more. Also, for some great “day to day” time management materials, check out these highly effective, highly rated time management & organization products.

Do Your “Busywork” - But Don’t Let It Control You!

Many of us have fallen into the habit of running ourselves ragged doing all sorts of “busywork”… things that need to be done but often not as urgently as we’ve trained ourselves to believe. (Buying groceries, doing laundry, going to the bank or post office, getting the car serviced, shopping for gifts, you name it.)

By focusing on time management we can schedule busywork into much more manageable blocks. Yes, those tasks need to be done (usually). However, it makes a lot more sense to group them into one or two days of the week rather than trying to fit one in here, another there, another somewhere else, and therefore distracting ourselves from more productive tasks.

Eliminate Procrastination

Procrastination is like a little white lie we tell ourselves. We think we’ll feel better if we do something fun and easy like watching TV, surfing the Net, grabbing a bite to eat or even going for a stroll, instead of reading that article, making that phone call, sending that e-mail, studying that course material, updating that web page or blog, or whatever. Procrastination masquerades in many, many disguises.

Eliminating procrastination comes down to simple self-discipline. As I mentioned, successful entrepreneurs are masters of discipline. This doesn’t necessarily mean they’re totally rigid, stuck in their ways or focused on “do-do-do” all the time. What it means is:

They identify what needs to be done and, more importantly,

They do it.

Pretty simple concept isn’t it? When we take action and do what needs to be done, we usually get the results we want. If we don’t, we just change our approach and take action again until we do get the results we want. But if we procrastinate and don’t take action, we’ll never get the results we want. If you want something, you need to take appropriate, inspired action to get it!

Again, I highly recommend these time management products as a great additional resource.

Next, in Part 4b of Personal Money Management for Wealth Builders, we’ll look at some powerful time management tips… see you there!

Hello Wealth Builders!

I trust that your February was a good one! Here at Wealth Building Express we’re revamping our entire underlying structure in preparation for some major growth.

The Wealth Building Express blog will remain, but I will soon be adding new websites to the roster in addition to upgrading the current ones: www.creating-life-abundance.com, www.robjam.com and www.empowerment-central.com. (Empowerment Central will be up and running shortly - it’s still under construction at this time.)

At this stage in my business’s growth I’m finding that my time resources are really stretched! It would be great to hire an assistant to help with administrative tasks and a coder to help with programming, but that’s still a little ways off. Our current profit and traffic growth curves, while fabulous for the total amount of time we’ve been around (less than 6 months for Creating Life Abundance, and under 3 for Wealth Building Express!) - are still below the point of being able to employ someone.

So for now I’ll be doing it myself! That’s not a bad thing, but it does require good time management - something I’m learning more about every day!

It’s also a good lead-in for Part 4 of Personal Money Management for Wealth Builders: Manage Your Time Effectively! This step may not deal with money directly, but it’s such an essential part of personal money management and wealth building that I had to include it.

So there you go. Part 4 is coming shortly - stay tuned!

This is Part 3 of our series: Personal Money Management for Wealth Builders.

Part 3 involves getting your money flowing into the right channels. Although there is obviously room for adjustment as your incomings, outgoings and personal circumstances change, a good baseline is this:

Divide your total net income as follows:

Save 10%

Invest 10%

Tithe 10% (give to charitable causes)

Live on the rest

For example, if you earn $3000 net per month that means you would put $300 into savings, invest $300, give $300 to good causes, and have $2100 left for food, rent, utility bills, gas/transportation, entertainment and other expenses.

Adjust according to income!

You can adjust the percentages up or down depending on your income. For example, if you earn $2000 per month you might not be able to spare 30% of it for savings, tithing and investments. In that case, adjust the percentage down - perhaps 5% per category instead of 10%. You would put $100 per month into savings, investments and tithing, and still have $1700 left to live on.

On the other hand, if you have a higher income then you can allocate more. For example, if you make $5000 per month then you could allocate say, $700 per category, and still have $2900 per month to live on.

Allocate as much money as you can.

We highly recommend that you put as much money as possible into those 3 categories - it’s the way to get greater and greater amounts of wealth flowing and circulating in your life, quickly. This might sound odd, but the more money that flows out of your life in this manner, the more money will show up in even greater amounts to replace it!

Each category builds your wealth in a different way

As your savings increase, you build an ever-greater “cushion of comfort” for unforseen expenses that could otherwise eat into your credit or investment funds. Once your savings reach a certain level (enough to cover a full 6 months of all your expenses and payments, for example), you can start allocating less to savings and putting more into investments or tithing if you like.

As your investments increase (and investments include building a business or businesses if you so desire), your income and net worth will increase proportionately. The more money you have to put into your wealth building activities, the more wealth you will build!

Even if you’re not into entrepreneurship or running your own business, the more money you can put into secure investments the better. Financial freedom is why we build wealth, and good investments - no matter what form they take - allow us to achieve it that much faster.

And as you tithe, you get money flowing to sources that need it and you give back in appreciation for what you have. Whether you believe in things like energy, karma and the Law of Attraction or not, the fact is that giving money away in the spirit of goodwill guarantees that more will flow to you in return.

And it just plain feels good! Many of the world’s wealthiest people are great givers, and while there are benefits such as tax write-offs as well, the plain truth is that when you have an abundance of wealth, it is generous, honorable and natural to use one’s wealth for the benefit of others and the greater good.

Of course, you need to be giving for the sake of giving, not just “giving to get”. In other words, you need to give from the heart because you want to help others - not just because you think it will bring more money to you (although it will).

When you give, you send out the message: “I am wealthy. I have more than enough for myself; I’m grateful and I enjoy sharing it with others.” Your mind registers this subconsciously and acts on it. And, as I said earlier, if you believe in the Law of Attraction and such, when you tithe you feel wealthy and grateful because you have money to spare. As a result, you attract even more money to feel wealthy and grateful for!

So that’s Part 3 of Personal Money Management for Wealth Builders.

As I did in Part 1 of this series of posts, I recommend books like The Wealthy Barber, The Richest Man in Babylon and The Millionaire Next Door to help you understand the basics of building a solid foundation for wealth building.

And I’ll also recommend Christopher Westra’s course, “I Create Millions“. It’s all about creating money from the inside out, which is where all money really comes from. Check it out here!

Have a great day, and we’ll talk again soon!

Time for a little shameless self-promotion here…

Part 2 is closely related to our previous post, “Creating a Budget” and can be summed up in one short sentence:

Account for everything you earn and spend.

This is simple common sense. Good accounting helps you see where your money is going, which in turn helps you use it in the best ways possible!

For example, if you see that you’re spending a disproportionate amount of your income on meals out, you can decide to cook more at home. On the other hand, if you see that you have room to spend more on meals out, you can make the choice to do so - or apply the money somewhere else. Save it, invest it or add it to your business accounts, tithe it, apply it to household expenses, or anything else that makes good fiscal sense. The point is, you’ll have the money to do it!

Getting started

Keeping a basic record is as easy as buying a notebook and recording your incomings and outgoings each day. It’s very helpful to learn from someone who knows about creating and maintaining an effective budget, so if you’re able to consult with a qualified financial advisor then by all means do so.

I also recommend using good budgeting software such as Quicken. This company has been around for a long time, for good reason: their products are outstanding and very reasonably priced. The money you save and build by using them will pay for them many times over! If you’re just getting started and want to track your expenses, check out Quicken Starter Edition 2008:

If you’re a bit more established in your finances but could still use a great tool for managing your budget, have a look at Quicken Deluxe 2008. This is the latest version of the “classic” Quicken that has helped many thousands of people enjoy greater wealth by managing their finances more effectively:

Another option is Quicken Online. This version doesn’t install on your computer; it’s all run through Quicken’s secure servers. This option is extremely cost effective and great for new users. It’s free for the first month and just $2.99 per month after that. Outstanding value!

Of course, as your wealth building efforts begin to pay off and your income increases significantly – not to mention the added complexities of business accounting – a good accountant can be worth his or her weight in gold. However, to start with most of us have to do it ourselves… and that’s where software can really simplify the process.

It’s not hard!

Regardless of whether you use your computer or do it by hand, the key is to get started and do it consistently. Simply record your income and track all of your outgoings. Save receipts and add them up. Print summaries from your bank accounts. Compare what’s going in to what’s going out, and observe where your money’s moving. Look at how and where you can improve your spending habits and make adjustments if needed.

Accounting for everything you earn and spend, especially curbing your spending when necessary, can take some discipline at first. However, I think you’ll be surprised - perhaps even shocked - at how much extra money you can gain from it!

A dollar or two here and there can add up very quickly… and before you know it you will very likely have a lot more money to apply to your wealth building activities. We’ll get into those activities in coming posts!
